Bobblehead Bob Chatter for 2/9/10
Green Police for Audi.
This ad managed the Bring it On double. You'll recall the great film,
Bring It On, about a cheerleading squad's quest for a national
championship. Cheerleaders loved the movie, but so did everyone who
thinks cheerleaders are ridiculous.
Here, Audi manages to send up the green industry while at the same time
advertising for the green industry.
Granted, the green crowd will see through this and the commercial isn't
likely to be very successful, but it's really smart, punchy, and drives
home a satirical point.
It would be good, but we think it is only a matter of time before it is
real!
The David
Letterman, Jay Leno, Oprah commercial.
David Letterman, wearing a Colts
jersey, opens by saying, "This is the worst Super
Bowl party ever." Then as we pan back we first see Oprah,
Letterman's erstwhile nemesis, followed by a further pan out to Jay
Leno.
It's a promo ad for The Late Show with David Letterman and suggests
that Oprah has brought both men together to mediate their
differences....FUNNY!
Hockey
Counting
Sunday's
5-4 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh
Penguins, Alex Ovechkin's
tenure as team captain has been nearly flawless. Ovechkin is now 17-1-0
since the promotion, a run that includes the team's current 14-game
winning streak, tied for third-longest in NHL history and three behind
the all-time mark held by the 1992-93 Penguins.
Danica Patrick
Danica Patrick's sixth-place finish in
her stock car debut Saturday night didn't earn her a trophy, but
something much more useful: respect and credit.
She was running 24th with 19 laps to go and charged through the field
like a veteran NASCAR racer, not an IndyCar driver turning her first
competitive laps in a stock car.
By all accounts, her effort equaled the hype. And there has been plenty
of hype.
Olympics News
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mike
Komisarek will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. As a
result, the U.S. Olympic team now needs to name two defensemen as
injury replacements.
"I am truly sorry that I will not be able to represent my country in
the Olympics," said Komisarek, a native of Islip Terrace, N.Y.
"(Toronto) team doctors have recommended this after a determined effort
to rehab the injury without surgery. Having this done immediately is
the right thing to do for the Leafs."
With Paul Martin of the New Jersey Devils also sidelined by
injury, Team USA will announce a pair of appointments on the blue line
in the coming days.
